2014-2015
The 2014-2015 season in Atom for NSDMHA was a successful one. We iced two Metro teams and one Atom “A” team. The metro teams all participated in the atoMc program, in which the player’s received jerseys, socks, and hats. Next year the teams in the metro level will also be participating in the atoMc program, with jerseys already ordered for 2015-2016.
All of our teams were competitive on the ice. The atom “A” team, coached by Joe Peck, had an outstanding year. The team only lost a couple of games all year, and lost 7-6 to Pictou in a game that would have sent them to the Day of Champions! They won gold in the Cape Breton County Allan Sullivan Memorial Tournament, and the team won silver in the Antigonish Automobile Dealership Tournament. The team also attended the 34th JoeLamontagne March Break Tournament.
The metro teams coached by Richard Hannem and Carl Swan were very competitive in the Metro League. Richard’s Atom 1 team played in three different tournaments – Glace Bay, PEI and at home in Sydney Mines, and reached the crossovers in two of the three tournaments. Carl’s Atom 2 team participated in a couple of tournaments, and finished second in our Atom Metro Tournament. I would like to thank Richard Hannem for completing the Atom Metro schedule.
Our atom division players should be very proud of their accomplishments this year. I would like to personally thank our Atom Division coaches for their commitment and dedication to the kids and for ensuring the players developed and had fun at the same time.
