Midget Report - 2018-2019

First I would like to thank NSDMH for the opportunity to be the Co-ordinator for the Midget Division for 2018-2019. The Midget Division had an interesting year. Here is my summary for the Division: 

 

There were two teams, one in the A and one in the C division respectively. The A team coached by Terry Higgins was competitive and hosted a successful tournament at the Emera Centre Northside that provided good competition. The C team was coached by Travais Briand. Travais and his team worked through rotating players in and out of the lineup as they had a large roster due to irregular numbers within the Midget division that had just two teams. We appreciate HNS granting the team this ability.

 

Travais and his coaches worked hard to keep the team moving forward as the year progressed as we dealt with several unfounded issues from other associations. The Midget C team did not play several games due to non events out of their control. Working with Travais, NSDMH President Mike Bishop, Office Administrator Carla Carmichael and the NSDMH board along with the support of the players, parents and grandparents we were able to get the C team back on the ice to compete for the playoffs. I also would like to thank Fred Howard our area Regional Director for Hockey Nova Scotia. A meeting was held with other associations and Mr. Howard helped facilitate a return to the ice for the Northside C team.  The C team subsequently finished the season playing in a tournament in East Hants and were very competitive in all games. 

 

Although a season can be filled with many obstacles it is hoped that a reminder for all is that at the end of the day we all do our best. We want all players to continue to play a sport they love, regardless of ability, age or division. It is to this end, I would like to thank the rink operators, the timekeepers, the on ice officials, the coaches, trainers, managers, players, parents, grandparents for their efforts this past season.
